Library to Feature Short Films and Artistic Presentations Created by Disney Storytellers Fund at Howard University
Event to Include One-Night Display of Film, Performing Arts and Music Collections from the Library
Visitors are invited to the Library of Congress for an exclusive screening of short films and artistic presentations created by student filmmakers and creators through the Disney Storytellers Fund at Howard University on Tuesday, Jan. 16 from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Coolidge Auditorium.
Due to inclement weather, this event has been postponed until further notice.
This event will be presented by Dean Phylicia Rashad and Assistant Dean Denise Saunders Thompson of the Howard University Chadwick A. Boseman College of Fine Arts, and Dean Gracie Lawson-Borders of the Cathy Hughes School of Communications. The evening includes film screenings, works-in-progress and live performances. A limited number of tickets will be available to the public. Registration is required.
This event will also feature a one-night display of treasures from the Library’s film, performing arts and prints and photographs collections.
About the Showcase
The event will feature screenings and artistic presentations by Disney Storytellers Fund at Howard University Scholars. The featured projects have been produced by the first cohort of this unique program that aims to support the next generation of Black storytellers. Student projects are focused on storytelling across a variety of media, including animation, design, gaming, journalism, live action, performing arts, and virtual reality.
Special Display
“Melodies for the Screen: Treasures for Film and Television” explores the Library's film, performing arts and prints and photographs treasures in conjunction with the Howard University Disney Storytellers Scholars showcase event. Visitors are invited to explore the Howard Ashman Papers, Hazel Scott Papers, Max Roach Papers and more. This display will be located in the Whittall Pavilion in the Thomas Jefferson Building from 5:30-7 p.m. No tickets are required to view this display.
